The Ironhide Grooming Kit is a three-step routine designed to support regular coat care through gentle cleansing, balanced rinsing, and light conditioning. Each product — ForgeClean™, RinseCore™, and ForgeSeal™ — works together to help maintain the coat’s natural appearance and cleanliness as part of a normal grooming routine.
What’s Included

ForgeClean™ (1 x 100 g)
Provides around 2–4 full washes in total, depending on the horse and coat condition. Bulk ForgeClean™ options are available separately for regular users who want better long-term value.

RinseCore™ (250 ml)
Provides up to 10 rinses at 25 ml per use, or around 5 stronger rinses at 50 ml per use, depending on coat needs, workload and how heavily the product is used. -
ForgeSeal™ (1 x 100 g)
Provides around 30-40 washes depending on coat condition.
Forgeclean™ – A cold-process bar, cured for six weeks, and crafted with mineral clays, charcoal, and slow-infused oils to cut through dirt, sweat, and buildup. It clears the way and prepares the coat for conditioning.
RinseCore™ – The second stage of the Ironhide Grooming System. A concentrated liquid rinse designed to follow ForgeClean™ and prepare the coat for ForgeSeal™. Always diluted before use, it turns an overlooked step into something purposeful.
Forgeseal™ – A solid balm bar crafted with natural butters, waxes, clays, and infused oils. Designed to follow ForgeClean™ and RinseCore™, it provides the final stage of care. Helping to condition, protect, and lock in the coat’s natural balance. Where most grooming ends, ForgeSeal™ begins its work. ForgeSeal™ is best suited to the cooler months, and I highly recommend using it mainly through autumn and winter. It can still be used on cooler summer days, but with warmer temperatures it can naturally soften the bar and can make application heavier.

Each element in ForgeClean™ carries properties that have long been valued in traditional grooming for maintaining balance, freshness, and resilience in the skin and coat.

Activated Charcoal – highly porous, traditionally recognised for its ability to bind to dirt, sweat, and oils, helping lift away buildup during washing.

Bentonite & Kaolin Clay – mineral clays long used for their cleansing and refining qualities. Bentonite is known for its stronger pull, while kaolin provides a softer touch to balance it.

Herbal-Infused Extra Virgin Olive Oil – slow-infused in-house for six weeks with calendula, chamomile, and comfrey. Extra virgin olive oil itself is rich in natural antioxidants and oleic acid. The herbs we select for infusion have long been valued in traditional care. Chamomile for its calming reputation, calendula for soothing support, and comfrey for its association with conditioning and resilience.

How the soap is made
ForgeClean™ is a cold-processed soap, created through a process called saponification, where oils are transformed into a solid cleansing bar.
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) & Water
Used to start the soapmaking process. These react with the oils to form soap.
By the end of curing, the sodium hydroxide has been fully used and is no longer present in its original form.Sodium Lactate

- Aloe Vera Juice (Inner Leaf)
Long valued in natural care for leaving the skin feeling refreshed and soothed after heat, friction, or exposure. Traditionally used for skin softness and hydration. - Chamomile Hydrosol – a distilled floral water chosen for its calming, gentle qualities. Traditionally associated with easing sensitivity and adding a mild freshness to rinses.
- Apple Cider Vinegar (Raw, Unfiltered) – traditionally used as a clarifier to help remove residue, sweat, or grime. Contributes to a fresh, clean coat finish without heaviness.
- Vegetable Glycerin (Palm-Free) – widely used in grooming and skincare for its ability to attract and hold water, helping the coat feel supple and smooth after rinsing.
- Vitamin E (Natural Tocopherol) – included to help protect the formula and support coat condition, while also offering antioxidant defense against environmental stress.
- Colloidal Oat Flour – finely ground oats, traditionally valued for their role in calming itchiness and supporting skin resilience.
- Magnesium Flakes (Magnesium Chloride) – often used post-exercise for relaxation. Traditionally recognised for helping ease muscle tension and supporting recovery.
- Peppermint Essential Oil – chosen for its sharp, uplifting aroma and its long traditional use for a cooling, refreshing feel after work.

We didn’t want to release something and hope it was safe.
If a product is going onto a horse regularly, it should be properly understood, not guessed.
So we put ForgeClean™, RinseCore™, ForgeSeal™. through a full safety process before it was ever offered to customers.
What we did:
- Stability tested under real conditions
- Assessed through a full toxicology review
- Reviewed by veterinary toxicologists from the Veterinary Poisons Information Service (VPIS), the same service equine vets rely on when assessing risk in animals
This is as close as you can get to real-world equine safety assessment without testing directly on horses.
It’s a level of assessment most grooming products never go through.
The outcome was clear.
No significant toxicological concerns were identified when used as directed.

Step 1 of the grooming system.
Forgeclean Directions of use.
Start with a fully wet coat.
ForgeClean™ is designed to be used directly on the horse, just like a traditional soap bar.
Apply with light pressure to build a gentle lather.
Glide the bar over the coat, then work it in by hand. Focus on areas where dirt, sweat, and buildup naturally collect.
Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
Ensure all lather is fully removed before moving to the next step.
Step 2 of the grooming system.
Rinsecore Directions of use following ForgeClean
Dilute 25-50ml of Rinsecore in 5L of clean water.
Apply evenly to the coat using a sponge or cloth. Do not rinse off.
Use 25ml for daily maintenance or light work.
Use 50ml after intense exercise or for deep cleaning.
for smaller areas dilute 10ml in 2l of water
For mud-prone legs, dilute 100ml in 5l of water and apply as a targeted rinse no more than once a week.
Rinsecore can be used regularly at low dilution,
high strength use (100ml per 5L) us bit is not intended for frequent application. always patch test on first use, dispose of diluted product after 24 hours.
For best results, we recommend starting with 25ml as your regular go-to. This is suitable for ongoing use and helps maintain a consistent, manageable coat without overdoing it. Move up to 50ml when the coat has been through more, such as after heavier work, sweat, or noticeable build-up. The 10ml in 2L dilution is ideal for patch testing or small areas, allowing you to understand how your horse responds without using unnecessary product. The 100ml dilution is designed as a stronger, targeted reset for more demanding areas like mud-prone legs. Because it works at a higher strength, it’s best used sparingly (no more than once a week) to avoid repeatedly pushing the coat too far in one direction, helping maintain a more stable, balanced feel over time.
Step 3 of the grooming system.
ForgeSeal Directions of use following Rinsecore
Apply a thin, even layer of ForgeSeal to a clean coat, Ideally while the coat is slightly damp. Work gently in the direction of hair growth. Suitable for use on the horse's full body coat.
Avoid applying to long hair such as the tail, mane and feathers, as it may build up over time. Do not apply excessively thick layers as this may lead to build up. Always patch test before use.
Recommended use is 1-2 times per week for general maintenance, or up to 2-3 times per week for horses with dry or scurfy skin. When reapplying, Always thoroughly wash the coat before hand.
For best results, ForgeSeal is designed to be used little and often rather than in heavy amounts. Start with a light application 1–2 times per week and observe how your horse’s coat responds over time. If the coat feels drier or needs more support, you can increase to 2–3 times per week, keeping layers thin and even. Applying to a slightly damp coat helps it spread more easily and avoids overuse in one area. Because ForgeSeal forms a light, protective layer, we recommend washing the coat before reapplication, as applying over a dirty coat can trap dirt.
Note on Patch Testing
We recommend carrying out a patch test before full use.
Apply the full grooming system to a small, controlled area of the coat and monitor over 24 hours.

Having used human shampoo bars with varying degrees of success, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the Forge Clean bar was to use. It gave a lovely lather and throughly cleaned my hairy fell pony’s coat. Being a hairy legged breed, his feathers often accumulate grit, dirt and sand, the Forge Clean removed this build up with ease. A little goes a long way so you will get plenty of use out of one bar.
The Rinse Core smells divine. I have used it after bathing and when rinsing my pony off after rides as he can get a little sweaty with his Winter coat coming through. It has helped keep his coat silky and shiny. I also think this has helped keep pesky insects at bay.
Forge Seal has left a lovely shine on his coat. Like the Forge Clean, it is super easy to use and a little goes a long way. I ran some of this through my pony’s mane and tail and found I didn’t need to use detangler the following day which was a nice surprise as I find myself using a lot of detangler with his long mane and tail.
Overall I was highly impressed with the grooming kit. I have never seen my pony’s coat so shiny. The shine remained for several days following use and his feathers look much fuller. I even found that he was easier to groom for several days following his bath and he was much less itchy especially around his fetlocks. Would happily purchase again in the future.
